Al Nassr secured a 2-1 victory over Al Taawoun on Friday night (August 28), with Ronaldo scoring the decisive goal for his side. The goal took his Saudi Pro League tally for Al Nassr to 104.
Ronaldo found the net in the 50th minute, surpassing the previous record held by Mohammed Al-Sahlawi. Between 2009 and 2019, Al-Sahlawi scored 103 goals in 205 Saudi Pro League appearances for Al Nassr.
Ronaldo needed just over three years to break Al-Sahlawi’s record after joining Al Nassr in January 2023. His goal against Al Taawoun was also the 978th of his remarkable career. With the 1,000-goal milestone now in sight, Ronaldo needs just 22 more goals to reach the landmark.
Al Nassr did not have the best start to the match. They fell behind in the 11th minute when Mohammed Bassam Al-Huraiji put Al Taawoun ahead. However, Al Nassr levelled deep into first-half stoppage time, with Sadio Costa finding the back of the net in the fifth minute of added time.
Ronaldo then completed the comeback in the 50th minute, putting Al Nassr in front. They held on to secure a 2-1 win and maintain their perfect start to the season.
With four wins from four matches, Al Nassr currently sit at the top of the Saudi Pro League table.
