The win marked Pakistan's first Test victory away from home since July 2023, when they defeated Sri Lanka under the leadership of Babar Azam. It also ended a disappointing run of eight consecutive away Tests without a win.
Although Pakistan lost the opening Test after Babar returned as captain, they bounced back impressively in the second match. Babar led from the front throughout the series, scoring 193 runs in two Tests to earn the Player of the Series award.
The victory helped Pakistan level the two-match series 1-1. Interestingly, each of the last three Test series between Pakistan and the West Indies has finished in a 1-1 draw.
Pakistan had already taken firm control of the match by the end of the third day. Resuming on 103 for 6 on the fourth morning, the West Indies managed to add only 14 more runs before being bowled out. Their innings officially ended at nine wickets, as Brandon King was unable to bat due to injury.
The hosts lost their final six wickets for just 18 runs, leaving Pakistan with a straightforward target of 75. Sajid Khan and Ali Usman starred with the ball, claiming four wickets each and dismantling the West Indies batting lineup.
Pakistan's chase was largely trouble-free despite losing two early wickets. Imam-ul-Haq scored 9 before being dismissed, while fellow opener Azan Awais contributed 18 before departing with the score on 42.
Babar Azam and Abdullah Shafique then ensured there were no further setbacks, putting together an unbeaten 35-run partnership to guide Pakistan to victory. Both batters remained unbeaten on 24.
Shafique was named Player of the Match for his outstanding unbeaten 161 in Pakistan's first innings, an innings that laid the foundation for the series-leveling victory.
