According to Spanish newspaper Mundo Deportivo, winning the World Cup has brought Yamal one step closer to claiming football's most prestigious individual award.
Despite struggling with a knee injury before the tournament, Yamal delivered outstanding performances throughout the World Cup. He scored against Saudi Arabia and won a crucial penalty in the semifinal against France. He also finished the tournament with 27 successful dribbles, second only to Lionel Messi, who completed 28.
His club campaign was equally impressive. Yamal scored 16 goals and provided 11 assists in La Liga, earning the league's Player of the Season award. He also shared the Zarra Trophy with Ferran Torres.
