Pakistan are already 2-0 down in the three-match Test series. Last week, the visitors sent seven players back home. At the same time, head coach Sarfaraz Ahmed was removed from his position and New Zealand’s Mike Hesson was appointed to take charge.
During the second Test at Lord’s, the Pakistan cricket team expressed anger after an interview with the sons of former Pakistan Prime Minister and captain Imran Khan was broadcast on Sky Sports. The team even threatened to call off the tour.
In a statement issued on Monday morning, the PCB said, “Following a review of media reports concerning discipline and conduct, the Pakistan Cricket Board has initiated an internal departmental investigation. The PCB handles such matters in accordance with its standard regulations. The process is being conducted in line with PCB rules to ensure that all concerned individuals are given an appropriate opportunity for assessment.”
The PCB statement further said, “At this stage, any speculative reports or unverified claims circulating through various channels, particularly from hostile external sources, should not be considered reliable. The PCB will make no further comment on the matter at this time. Partners and the general public are advised to rely on the PCB’s official communications.”
