Chelsea Make Transfer History by Selling Players

Chelsea have made history in the transfer market after earning a record €448 million from player sales during this summer’s transfer window. That figure is worth more than Tk 6,300 crore in Bangladeshi currency.

According to Transfermarkt, no club in European football has ever generated as much revenue from player sales in a single transfer window.

Chelsea’s decision to sell players on such a large scale was largely driven by strict financial regulations and the need to maintain a balance between spending and revenue. However, the Stamford Bridge club have now turned that pressure into an extraordinary financial success.

The biggest share of Chelsea’s record income came from the sale of Enzo Fernandez. The World Cup-winning Argentine midfielder was sold to Manchester City for €145 million on the final day of the transfer window.

The deal also saw the Premier League’s joint-record transfer fee equalled. But Fernandez was far from Chelsea’s only major sale. Andre Santos left for €56.3 million, while Nicolas Jackson and Marc Cucurella were sold for €55.5 million and €55 million respectively.

Chelsea also earned €52 million from the sale of Liam Delap, while Trevoh Chalobah moved for €30 million. Tyrique George was sold for €21 million, Marc Guehi for €15 million and Tosin Adarabioyo for €11.7 million.

By selling one important player after another, Chelsea have not only trimmed down their squad but also achieved an astonishing financial milestone in the transfer market.
