Throughout the summer, Real Madrid had been heavily linked with Manchester City star and Spain captain Rodri, with reports even suggesting that the two sides had reached a preliminary understanding.
However, Barcelona entered the race at the last moment and completely changed the situation. The Catalan giants reportedly secured Rodri for around €76.5 million, snatching away Real Madrid’s primary midfield target. As a result, the Spanish giants were left empty-handed in their pursuit of one of their most wanted signings.
