Real Madrid Make Waves Across Every Department in the Transfer Market

Real Madrid summer transfer window signings and departures
Real Madrid entered the summer transfer market with a clear objective: to build a squad capable of competing at the highest level while also keeping a long-term plan in mind. The club’s decision to bring in young Ivorian winger Yan Diomande from RB Leipzig is perhaps the clearest example of that strategy. The deal is worth close to €135 million including bonuses, with an initial fee of €125 million, and the player is tied to the Spanish giants until 2033.

But Diomande was far from the only major addition. Real Madrid strengthened their defense by bringing in Marc Cucurella from Chelsea and Denzel Dumfries from Inter Milan. They also added Bernardo Silva and Ibrahima Konate on free transfers, further reinforcing both their attacking options and defensive depth.

The departures painted a very different picture. Nico Paz moved to Como, Gonzalo Garcia joined Fulham, while Dani Ceballos returned to Real Betis. Meanwhile, highly rated young talent Franco Mastantuono was sent out on loan to Fiorentina.

Two experienced figures, Dani Carvajal and David Alaba, announced their retirement from football. The club also parted ways with several promising youngsters. Despite the scale of their spending, however, Real Madrid did not sell any major first-team star during the summer window.

Although the club completed several high-profile deals and largely achieved its transfer objectives, there was one major disappointment for the fans. Throughout the summer, Real Madrid had been heavily linked with Manchester City star and Spain captain Rodri, with reports even suggesting that the two sides had reached a preliminary understanding.

However, Barcelona entered the race at the last moment and completely changed the situation. The Catalan giants reportedly secured Rodri for around €76.5 million, snatching away Real Madrid’s primary midfield target. As a result, the Spanish giants were left empty-handed in their pursuit of one of their most wanted signings.
